YouTube cracks down on anti-vaccine videos, bans major accounts

youtube has said that it will remove

videos and high-profile users who claim

that approved vaccines are dangerous

now youtube has already banned posts

that spread false information about

cover 19 treatments and the platform has

said that its concerns about the spread

of medical conspiracy theories goes well

beyond the pandemic

we have steadily seen false claims about

the coronavirus vaccine spill over into

misinformation about vaccines in general

we're now at a point where it is more

important than ever to expand the work

that we started with covered 19 to other

vaccines

there will be exceptions to the new

guidelines however for instance personal

testimonials of negative experiences

will not be removed youtube has said

that it has removed 130 000 videos last

year

for violating its covert 19 vaccine

policies

meanwhile youtube has said that it has

shut two german channels of russian

state broadcaster rt in a bid to crack

down in the covert 19 misinformation

the decision has drawn threats of

retaliation from russia
